Strengthening Synergy Through Experience: BI Jabar & Media Partners Capacity Building 2025

Bank Indonesia Jawa Barat (BI Jabar) recently held a three-day capacity building program in the scenic region of Kuningan, West Java, from May 16 to 17, 2025. The event brought together dozens of media partners in an initiative designed to go beyond formal collaboration, focusing on strengthening interpersonal relationships, creative thinking, and shared commitment to West Java’s progress. Framed under the cultural theme “Ngariung Dina Rasa Pikeun Ngarojong Jabar Istimewa” — which means “Gathering in Spirit to Support a Special West Java” — the program successfully blended insightful dialogue, cultural appreciation, and experiential learning.

The journey began with participants departing from the BI Jabar office to Joglo Arunika, a traditional Sundanese venue that offered a warm and intimate atmosphere. Upon arrival, guests were welcomed with refreshments and an inspiring session on capacity building, where they explored the evolving role of journalism in regional development and the importance of collaborative storytelling. The discussion opened space for reflection and exchange between the BI Jabar team and their media counterparts, reaffirming the value of transparent, two-way communication.

Later that evening, participants gathered at Tresha for an informal networking dinner, where meaningful connections were built in a relaxed setting. The day concluded with rest and preparation for the more dynamic activities ahead.

The second day shifted gears into a more adventurous tone with an off-road experience in Cibuntu. This immersive outdoor challenge served not only as a physical and mental refreshment but also as a foundation for the "News Making Challenge" — a creative segment in which participants, divided into teams, were asked to produce and perform a live news segment inspired by their off-road journey. The challenge required them to interpret themes such as drama, emergency, comedy, documentary, and even reality TV, all within a journalistic framework. Judged on entertainment value, creativity, and team synergy, the activity encouraged critical thinking, storytelling, and collaboration in an innovative way.

The highlight of the program took place on the evening of Day 2 during the Gala Dinner titled “BINEKAS Night.” Participants came dressed in themed attire portraying Kabayan and Nyi Iteung, iconic characters in Sundanese folklore. The night was filled with laughter, music, and a spirited dance competition that showcased both cultural pride and friendly competition. Awards were given not only for performance but also for engagement and enthusiasm, turning the evening into a true celebration of unity and creativity.

On the final day, after a relaxed morning at Santika Premiere Linggarjati Hotel, the group wrapped up the program with a visit to Teh’ Diah Souvenir Center — a local gift shop that offered a final touch of Kuningan’s hospitality and charm. It was a quiet but meaningful closing, as participants said their goodbyes and returned home with a deeper appreciation for collaboration and cultural connection.

This capacity building program was more than just a retreat; it was a shared experience that highlighted the value of building trust, staying creative, and nurturing authentic partnerships. As BI Jabar and its media partners move forward, the spirit of Kuningan will remain a reminder that progress is strongest when it is built together.
